Chandler, Ariz. – The Santa Clara women's golf team had a 10-stroke improvement from round one ending the second day of play at the Wyoming Cowgirl Classic at the Ocotillo Golf Resort in Chandler, Ariz. with a score of 323 for a two-round total of 656 (+80).

"Overall the conditions were better than they were yesterday," said head coach Krystal Kelly. "But it was still pretty windy."

Calmer weather conditions for round two produced better results with three Santa Clara players upgrading their scores by five strokes or more. Junior Taylor Camany saw the biggest improvement finishing round two with an 82, nine strokes better than her round one finish.

For the second straight day senior Balbina Guajardo was the Broncos top individual finisher after carding a 6-over-par 78 in the second round. Her two-day total of 11-over 155 is tied with five other players, 13 strokes behind tournament leader Hayley Young of Boise State, the only player under par after two rounds with a total of 142 (-2).

Freshman Monique Riley also shot an 82 in the second round which was seven shots better than her first round score and Ashley Noda's 81 was five shots better. Meghan Shain's second round 83 leaves her with a two-round total of 20-over 164, tied for 54th place.

After the winds subsided considerably, all but one team in the 19-team field had a better score in round two. Boise State continues to lead the pack after shooting a 301 on Tuesday for a two-round total of 608 (+32), 11 strokes better than second place Portland State (322-297=619).

The Broncos will look to improve upon their 18th place standing heading into the third and final round on Wednesday. The first golfers will tee off at 6:30 a.m. (PDT) with live stats available here.
