Extreme Temperatures to Challenge SCU Golf in Palm Desert

SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Santa Clara's women's golf team looks to contend for a tournament title this weekend at the Classic Club in Palm Desert. The Broncos were in the mix during their opening event in Utah, finishing fourth out of 16 teams before play was halted due to rain and lightning.

Rain won't factor into the results this weekend. However, temperatures are expected to reach 106 on Saturday, making an already grueling 36-hole day that much harder.

"Part of our preparation has been to hydrate well this week," said Santa Clara head coach Krystal Kelly. "Course management is going to be crucial for scoring this weekend as well. Classic Club is a very challenging golf course. If we stick to our game plan, I know we will be able to compete for the team title."

Kelly brings the same lineup to the desert this weekend which debuted for SCU in the opener. Kristin LeMonique Riley (pictured) and Kyleigh Moreno were top-10 in a field of 96 in Utah.
