DANVILLE, Calif. – Annie Freman shot a final round 4-under-par 68 to finish in a tie for second-place on the individual leaderboard helping the Santa Clara women's golf team to its lowest score of the WCC Championship with Wednesday's 298 to finish in fourth place.
Freman carded an eagle on her second hole of the afternoon, the par-5 11th, and scored four birdies over her final seven holes to climb 12 spots on the leaderboard.
She finished in a four-way tie for second with a 3-over 219 total, three strokes behind medalist Ciera Min of Gonzaga, who shot a tournament-low round of 66 on Wednesday, ending at even-par 216.
"Annie played another stellar round today," head coach Krystal Kelly said.
Santa Clara broke a second-round tie with San Francisco to take sole possession of fourth place, but the Broncos failed to gain ground on the teams ahead of them, finishing with a 904 (+40) total.
"Overall, I'm really happy with our performance," Kelly said. "We played great on the back nine and struggled a little on the front today."
BYU held on to claim the team title with an 884 (+20) total, three shots better than Gonzaga. The Cougars ended Pepperdine's run of 14 consecutive WCC Tournament championships.
Monique Riley scored 3-over 75 in all three rounds to finish alone in 12th place at 9-over 225.
Ashley Noda also carded a final-round 75, her lowest score of the tournament, and tied for 19th with a three-day total of 16-over 232.
"Ashley and Monique played great in their final round," Kelly noted of her two senior players.
Entering the final round tied for ninth, sophomore Kristin Le scored an 80 to fall into a tie for 16th place at 14-over 230.
