Women’s Golf To Compete In Juli Inkster Spartan Invite Starting Monday

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Back on the links and a little closer to home, Santa Clara women's golf will compete in the San José State Juli Inkster Spartan Invitational with 10 other teams starting Monday at the 6,194-yard, par-72 Almaden Golf and Country Club.

Teams and individuals will play 36 holes of golf on Monday with a single 18-hole round on Tuesday. Both days are scheduled to begin with a 9 a.m. shotgun start. Santa Clara will compete against BYU, Cal Poly, Colorado, Colorado State, Gonzaga, Long Beach State, Nevada, San Francisco, UC Irvine and host San José State.

The Broncos are coming off a sixth-place finish at the 15-team Red Raider Invitational in Lubbock, Tex. last week in which they scored 297 in each of the final two rounds of their first event to move up the leaderboard.

Junior Kristin Le was the Broncos top finisher tied for 10th place with a 6-over 222. Senior Annie Freman shot the tournament's lowest round with a third-round 69 and tied with teammate Kyleigh Moreno for 22nd place at 226.

Those three players will be joined by Chloe Wong and Isabella Salant to make up the Broncos five-player lineup.
