Women's Golf's Le Named WCC Golfer of the Month

SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Junior Kristin Le of Santa Clara women's golf was recognized by the West Coast Conference on Tuesday as the WCC Golfer of the Month for October

Le, a 2015 All-WCC first team honoree, finished among the top three at both of Santa Clara's tournaments in October. The junior shot a 7-under-par 137 (68-69) to claim her second career title, leading the Broncos to victory at the nine-team Cal Poly Lady Mustang Invitational (Oct. 22-23). She led the 53-player field by six strokes with 10 birdies and was deadly on the par-4 holes shooting a tournament-best 6-under. Her 36-hole total was just one stroke off the school record set by Annie Freman at last spring's Fresno State Classic.

Le was in line for her second-straight win after holding a four-stroke lead through 36 holes at the SCU Colby Invitational (Oct. 31-Nov.1) with a 1-under 143 (73-71). However, she battled flu-like symptoms during Tuesday's final round, posting an 82 to finish tied for second at 9-over, two shots back of champion Chomchana Phuchanbanchob of CSUN.

The women's golf squad returns to action on Feb. 13-14 for the Battle at the Rock in Riverside, California.
