SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara women's golf returns to action this week competing in the Anueneu Spring Break Classic beginning Monday in Maui, Hawai'i. The 15-team event, hosted by the University of Hawai'i, will be contested on the Arnold Palmer and Francis Duane designed par-72, 6,012-yard Kapalua Bay Course.
Continuing in its tradition of a highly-competitive field, this year's Classic features three top-10 teams in the recent Golfstat.com poll, including No. 1 ranked Stanford, No. 4 Arizona State and No. 7 UCLA. Seven other competing teams are in the top-100 with Santa Clara currently ranked No. 90.
The three-day, 54-hole event will feature a single 18-hole round each day with a shotgun start teeing off at 10:45 a.m. (PDT).
The Broncos scored their lowest round of the spring season with a 298 in the final round of the Fresno State Classic to earn a seventh place finish. They haven't competed since that even and look to carry the momentum of a strong finish into the Spring Break Classic.
"We are moving in the right direction," head coach Krystal Kelly said. "We just need to find the consistency we had in the fall."
Senior Annie Freman earned her 26th career top-10 finish in the team's last event and will anchor the team in the five-count-four event.
Junior Kristin Le also placed among the top-10 by placing in a tie for ninth. Kyleigh Moreno, Chloe Wong and Isabella Salant comprise the rest of the Broncos five-player team.
Live scoring for all three rounds of the tournament is available at Golfstatresults.com.
