KAPALUA, Hawai'i – Junior Kristin Le remains among the top-20 following Tuesday's 3-over 75 and Santa Clara women's golf sits in ninth place with a 613 total after two rounds of the Anuenue Spring Break Classic, competed on the 6,012-yard Kapalua Bay Course.
Following her first round 74, Le carded the Broncos' lowest second round score to tie for 18th place with a pair of golfers at 5-over 149. "Kristin is playing really well right now," head coach Krystal Kelly said.
The Broncos slipped to ninth-place in the 15-team field following Tuesday's 310, but are within striking distance of their highest finish of the spring season. Five teams ranked in the top 42 of the recent Golfstat.com poll hold down the first five slots with No. 7 UCLA eight shots better than No. 4 Arizona State heading into Wednesday's final round.
UCLA's Lilia Vu tops the individual leaderboard by nine strokes with an 11-under 133.
Freshman Chloe Wong scored a second round 5-over 77 to tie for 23rd with a 7-over 151 and junior Isabella Salant is tied for 41st at 11-over 155 after her second round 78.
"Chloe and Isabella have been very consistent," Kelly noted.
Senior Annie Freman shot a second round 80 and is tied for 55th with a 158 total. Junior Kyleigh Moreno carded an 81 on Tuesday and enters final round play tied for 59th at 159.
"Tomorrow is moving day so I'm looking to see more consistency," Kelly said. "They need to stay patient."
