She qualified for CIF first and second rounds all four years of high school and qualified for the third round as a junior and senior. Foothill won league in each of Sumner's four seasons.

Sumner was a scholar-athlete and on the high honor roll all four years of high school. She was also a member of the California Scholarship Federation freshman through senior year and was a member of the National Honor Society from 10th through 12th grade.

In 2015, Sumner won the Jerry Cole Sportsmanship Award and in 2016 was a finalist for the President's Leadership Award.
