SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara women's golf opens the 2017-18 season Monday competing in the eight-team Battle at Old Works, hosted by Montana State University on the 6,456-yard, par 72 Old Works Golf Club in Anaconda, Montana. The 54-hole event will take place over two days with Monday's action consisting of 36-holes.

For the first time in five years the Broncos won't have the most decorated player in program history competing. Annie Freman completed her four years last season, leaving as the all time leader with six individual titles.

Taking over the role of No. 1 on the team is senior Kristin Le, who capped an impressive last season with a trip to the NCAA Regionals. Le led the team in stroke average and won her second career title at the Lady Mustang Invitational. She also placed in the top-10 in eight of her 11 tournaments.

The Broncos' lineup for the debut event of the season will also consist of senior Kyleigh Moreno and sophomore Chloe Wong. Boston College transfer sophomore Marni Murez will compete in her first event as a Bronto as will freshman Emily Sumner to round out Santa Clara's five-player team. Freshman Sarah Busey will play as an individual.

Also scheduled to participate in the first-ever Battle at Old Works are host Montana State, Montana, North Dakota, Eastern Washington, Idaho State, Cal State Northridge and Cal State Fullerton. Live scoring for both days is available at golfstatresults.com.

Santa Clara has five fall events on its schedule, including the annual Colby Invitational which the Broncos host at Silver Creek Valley Country Club. That tournament takes place Nov. 6-7 and concludes the fall season.
