Women’s Golf Tied For Third After Round One Of Aggie Invitational

LAS CRUCES, N.M. – Led by sophomore Marni Murez and senior Kristin Le, who each shot a 2-over 74, Santa Clara women's golf completed the first-round of play at the Aggie Invitational in a tie for third-place with a team total of 301.

The Broncos will enter Tuesday's second-round tied with UT Rio Grande Valley, 14-shots behind leader Sacramento State and seven-shots behind second-place Texas-El Paso.

Murez got off to a hot start with birdies on her first two holes and scored four birdies for the day, the third-most among the 57-player field. Murez and Le ended the day tied for 11th-place with a trio of golfers at 74, just four shots behind leader Astha Madan of Sacramento State.

Senior Kyleigh Moreno finished a shot behind her teammates with a 3-over 75, tied for 16th-place.

Sophomore Chloe Wong and freshman Ritida Nanda, competing in her first collegiate tournament, each scored a 6-over 78 to tie for 34th-place.

"Tomorrow is moving day. I'm confident they will put it together," Kelly said of her team.
