Women’s Golfer Earns WCC Honor

SAN BRUNO, Calif. – Santa Clara's Kristin Le was named West Coast Conference Women's Golfer of the Month for September.

Le secured his third-career victory in leading the Broncos to the team title at the Wyoming Cowgirl Desert Intercollegiate (Sept. 30-Oct. 1). The junior carded the best round of the tournament in the final 18 holes, a 3-under 69 which gave her a two-shot victory over Kaci Masuda of Hawaii.

At that two-day event played at Classic Club in Palm Desert, California, Le posted a 54-hole total of 3-over 219 (77-73-69) to lead the Broncos to their fourth victory since the start of 2016-17 in the 12-team field. Le entered the final day tied for eighth place, but leapfrogged a handful of golfers and birdied two of the final three holes.

In Santa Clara's season-opening tournament, Le finished tied for 19th by carding a 54-hole total of 10-over 226 (76-74-76) at the Battle at Old Works (Sept. 11-12) in Anaconda, Montana. The Broncos were fourth in the eight-team field.
