Women’s Golf At Fresno State Classic Starting Monday

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara women's golf begins a stretch of four tournaments in five weeks by opening play in the 11-team Fresno State Classic on Monday morning. The two-day event will cover 54 holes on the 6,223-yard, par-72 Copper River Country Club.

It's been nearly three weeks since the Broncos last competed, taking ninth-place at The Gold Rush on Feb. 13, and the squad is eager to hit the links.

"We're looking forward to playing this week," head coach Krystal Kelly said. "The weather created some challenges for us, so hopefully we have a few dry days."

The Broncos have competed in this event the previous three seasons with a runner-up finish in 2015 their best showing in that span. Those events took place at San Joaquin Country Club with a new venue in store for the field this year.

"Copper River is a new course for the girls," Kelly noted. "My first tournament as a head coach was here and, in my opinion, it's more scoreable than San Joaquin."

Seniors Kristin Le, Kyleigh Moreno and Isabella Salant will anchor the team along with sophomore Chloe Wong and freshman Sarah Busey. Sophomore Isabella Seeburger and freshman Ritida Nanda will compete as individuals. You can view season stats for the team here.

"Our fifth spot has changed all throughout the season, so it will be nice to see how this squad plays together," Kelly said. "This year has been about getting our younger golfers more experience since we are graduating three players that consistently compete in our lineup."

First-round action is scheduled to get underway at 8:30 a.m. with a shotgun start. Live scoring will be available at Golfstat.com.
