Second-Round Play Suspended For Women’s Golf At Fresno State Classic

FRESNO, Calif. – Santa Clara women's golf scored a season-low 290 in the second-round of the Fresno State Classic before play was suspended due to darkness. The Broncos were one of six teams to complete all 36 holes on the first day of the event and moved into fourth-place with a 596 total. Scores are unofficial since the round wasn't completed.

Opening round play was delayed because of frost in the Central Valley, and the remaining six groups will complete the second round early Tuesday before final-round action gets underway.

The Broncos were led by Kristin Le and Chloe Wong, who both scored a 2-over 146 and are unofficially tied for seventh-place. Wong was one of three Broncos to score even-par 72 in the second-round to lift the squad after carding a first-round 306.

Sarah Busey and Kyleigh Moreno also shot even-par after both played the opening round at 81. They both moved up 18 spots on the individual leaderboard and are unofficially tied for 31st with several players still to complete the second round.

"They played incredible in the second round," head coach Krystal Kelly said.

Santa Clara's 2-over 290 bests the previous season low-round of 291, which was set at the Battle at Old Works last September.

Isabella Seeburger and Ritida Nanda, who are both playing as individual, will step on the 6,223-yard, par-72 Copper River Country Club early Tuesday to complete their round.

Barring any delays, the completion of the second round will begin at 7:30 a.m. with final-round play set for 9 a.m. Live scoring will be available at Golfstat.com.
