Women’s Golf Ninth After Two Rounds of BYU Entrada Classic

ST. GEORGE, Utah – A solid first-round put Santa Clara women's golf in the hunt, but the squad faltered over the second 18-holes, falling into ninth-place with a 612 total after two rounds of the BYU at Entrada Classic.

Sarah Busey matched her career-low with a first-round even-par 72 and the Broncos carded a 297 team total. However, no player scored below 77 in the second-round and the Broncos fell off the pace with a 315 total.

"We played great the first round and didn't play our best in the second round," head coach Krystal Kelly said. "I think the girls were a little fatigued and didn't hydrate well enough."

Kent State sits at even-par 576 and takes a two-shot lead over host BYU into tomorrow's final round.

Freshman Emily Sumner had the Broncos lowest second-round score with a 77 to move into a tie with Busey and two other golfers for 37th at 9-over 153.

After opening with a 1-over 73, senior Kristin Le shot a second-round 81 to fall into a tie for 41st at 10-over 154.

Kyleigh Moreno (77-78) and Chloe Wong (76-79) both ended the day at 11-over 155 to place in a tie for 47th-place.

"They are looking forward to getting back out there tomorrow," Kelly said of her team.
