ST. GEORGE, Utah – A second-round 312 dropped Santa Clara women's golf into 11th place with a 612 total after 36 holes of the BYU Entrada Classic.
Sophomore Sarah Busey matched her career-low with a first-round 3-under 69 to help the Broncos shoot 300 over the first 18 holes. The team struggled in the second round, matching its highest single-round score of the year. Most of the field had difficulty with only three teams scoring better than 20-over.
No. 12 Kent State grabbed the clubhouse lead with a 1-over 577, followed by No. 45 Texas Tech at 8-over 584. The Broncos are only 13 shots behind UTSA for a top-5 finish.
Busey followed up her 69 with a second-round 78 to fall into a tie for 14th at 3-over 147. She ended the day one-shot better than teammate Emily Sumner, who carded rounds of 73 and 75 to grab a share of 18th at 4-over 148.
Freshman Claire Choi scored a pair of 75s to place in a tie for 27th at 6-over 150.
Chloe Wong ended the day with a 167 total and Isabella Seeburger, competing in her first event of the year, had a 174 total.
Kent State has a monopoly at the top of the individual leaderboard with Thitapa Pakdeesettak holding a three-shot lead over teammate Karoline Stormo heading into Tuesday's final round.
