Choi Claims Top-5 Finish, Women’s Golf 10th At Hobble Creek Classic

SPRINGVILLE, Utah – Santa Clara women's golf began final round play Tuesday at the 17-team Hobble Creek Fall Classic in 10th place and that's where they finished, wrapping up the maiden event of the fall season with a 306 for a three-round team total of 906.

The Broncos were led by sophomore Claire Choi, who had a career-best finish by tying for fourth with a tournament total 3-over 216. She topped the squad in all three rounds shooting 71-72-73. Choi was three swings off the pace of medalists Cristiana Ciasca of Wyoming and Jocelyn Chee of Cal Baptist. It was the second top-5 for Choi, who had a solo fifth last February at The Gold Rush.

In a tightly-contested battle for the team title, Cal State Fullerton's 878 total was one-shot better than New Mexico (879) and two-strokes better than Northern Arizona (880).

Junior Sarah Busey's final round 74 moved her up two spots on the leaderboard to claim a share of 27th at 10-over 223. Senior Marni Murez tied for 62nd with a 232 total.

Santa Clara's contingent also featured senior Isabella Seeburger, who finished tied for 77th with a 236 total. Sophomore Duong Tran ended the tournament with a 245 total.

The Broncos return to tournament play in two weeks at the Ptarmigan Ram Classic, which takes place at the Ptarmigan Country Club in Fort Collins, Colo.
