Women's Golf Finishes Ninth at Aggie Invitational

LAS CRUCES, N.M. - Olivia Venderby posted the first top-20 showing of her career, helping Santa Clara women's golf claim ninth place at the Aggie Invitational.

Venderby carded a 5-over-par 221 (70-78-73) to finish tied for 17th for the Broncos who climbed one spot during Wednesday's final round. They posted a 34-over 898 (296-304-298).

Incarnate Word led at the end of each round and ended up posting a 1-under 863. Host New Mexico State was second at even-par. No other school was within 12 shots of the top two in the 20-team tournament that was held at the NM State Golf Course.

Ellen Nicholas of Incarnate Word won the individual title with an 8-under 208. Amelia McKee of New Mexico State was second at 6-under 210.

Inara Sharma was second among the Santa Clara entrants. She was tied for 31st at 8-over 224 (75-75-74). Borina Sutikto was one shot back with rounds of 76-75-74.

Rounding out the entries for the Broncos were Claire Choi and Madison Spiess. Choi was tied for 47th at 12-over 228 (75-76-77) and Spiess was tied for 74th at 20-over 236 (79-80-77).
