Women's Golf in Second Place at Pat Lesser Harbottle Invite

TACOMA, Wash. - Impressive performances by Claire Choi and Borina Sutikto on the opening day of the Pat Lesser Harbottle Invitational have Santa Clara women's golf within striking distance for the team title.

Choi is tied for third after firing a 1-over-par 145 (74-71) and Sutikto is tied for fifth at 2-over 146 (68-77) for the Broncos who are in second after carding a 15-over total of 591 (297-294) on Monday in an event taking place on the par-72 Tacoma Golf & Country Club course.

Choi's total included an a hole-in-one on the par-3 third hole during the opening round.

Host Seattle leads the field at 6-over 582 (287-295) and Utah Valley is third with a total of 18-over 594 (294-300) in the 20-team field.

Rivekka Jumagulova of Seattle is atop the individual leaderboard with a 1-under 143 (70-73) through 36 holes. Teammate Shayna Lu is one shot back in second.

Sutikto held the first-round lead with her collegiate-best 2-under 69, which featured five birdies.

Olivia Venderby is also among the top 20 for the Broncos. She is at 5-over 149 (76-73) in a tie for 14th place.

Inara Sharma is tied for 26th at 7-over 151 (78-73) and Madison Spiess is tied for 93rd at 20-over 164 (82-82).
