Women's Golf Takes Second At GCU Invitational

PHOENIX, Ariz. - Santa Clara women's golf had another impressive showing on the links in Tuesday's final round of the GCU Invitational, carding a an-even par 288 to finish runner-up in the tournament at 1-over 287-290-288--865. It is the Broncos' third runner-up finish of the season and their lowest three-day total of the year.

All five players finished in the top-23 of the 104-player field. Claire Choi had the Broncos' top finish with a tie for fourth at 1-under 73-70-72--215, her third top-four finish of the season already. 

Inara Sharma tied for 12th at 2-over 75-73-70--218, carding a 2-under 70 in the final round to leap 15 spots in the final standings. Lauren Shew also jumped 15 spots on Tuesday after carding 1-under 71 to tie for 17th at 4-over 72-77-71--220. Skyler May finished a stroke behind in a tie for 19th at 5-over 69-73-79--221 and Borina Sutikto tied for 23rd at 6-over 73-74-75--222. 

Host-GCU was the team champion at 4-under 279-291-290--860 and produced the tournament's individual medalist Alexis Linam, who was 3-under 69 on Friday to climb 11 spots and win with a three-day total of 3-under 71-73-69--213. 

NOTES

  • The Broncos also finished runner-up at the Pat Lesser Harbottle Invitational and Rainbow Wahine Invitational during the fall portion of the schedule.
