SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Santa Clara's much anticipated soccer showdowns at Portland this weekend will be broadcast live on the Internet.

internetsoccer.com will broadcast the women's match Saturday, Oct. 14 at 2:15 p.m. while the men can be heard the following afternoon, Sunday, Oct. 15, also at 2:15 p.m. The link to the broadcasts is as follows: http://www.internetsoccer.com/handler.cfm/events,main/.

Only two teams have won women's soccer West Coast Conference titles since the league began play in 1992: Portland and Santa Clara. The Pilots won titles in 1992, '94, '95 and '96, in addition to sharing the WCC Championship with Santa Clara in 1997. The Broncos also earned crowns in 1993, '98 and '99.

Adding to the rivalry is Santa Clara's school-record 19 straight WCC victories. The Broncos have not lost a league match since a 1-0 overtime loss to No. 3 Portland on Oct. 31, 1997. During the Broncos current streak, the team has outscored the opposition 99-4 with 15 shutouts.

This year's Bronco squad is 9-3-1 and ranked 11th in the NSCAA/adidas Poll. Portland counters with a 10-2-0 mark and a 17th ranking nationally. The Pilots are led by goalkeeper Cheryl Loveless, who ranks 13th nationally in goals-against average, with a 0.53 mark.

The Bronco men are 5-5-0 on the season and, after Sunday's match at Portland, will have faced four teams ranked among the top seven in the nation in its last five matches. The Broncos have four shutouts in its five wins this year but been held scoreless in their last three matches. SCU is 0-1 in West Coast Conference matches this season with a loss at Gonzaga last week.

Portland is 8-1-2 on the season and ranked second in the NCAA media poll. The Pilots are led by two-time, and current, WCC Player of the Week Nate Jaqua. A freshman, Jaqua has 20 points and seven goals on the season, while the Pilots have recorded three-straight shutouts.

In an online poll taken last summer by College Soccer Online, the Portland-SCU match was voted as the most anticipated showdown of the season. Of those responding, 28 percent indicated the Pilots-Broncos matchup as the game they'd most like to attend in all of Division I men's soccer.

internetsoccer.com, a Charlotte-based Internet company and the industry leader in live audio soccer broadcasts, has already broadcast CONCACAF Olympic and World Cup qualifiers, men's and women's Gold Cup matches, and A-League and MLS action to Internet listeners.

The college showcase series kicked off Sept. 1 with Connecticut, ranked fourth in preseason polls, falling to eleventh-ranked Wake Forest 2-1 in overtime. Indiana UCLA, SMU and St. Louis have also been featured on the series.

The games are called by members of the internetsoccer.com broadcast team. Listeners of the broadcast will be able to communicate with the broadcast team by emailing to the address broadcast@internetsoccer.com. Questions and comments will be answered on the air or through email responses.
