PORTLAND, Ore. - Portland's Vanessa Talbott posted a goal and an assist to lead the 16th-ranked Pilots in an upset of 10th-ranked Santa Clara, ending the Broncos' 19-match West Coast Conference win streak in front of 1, 719 fans.

Santa Clara falls to 9-4-1 overall, 2-1-0 in league play, while Portland improves to 11-2-1 on the season, 2-0-0 in the WCC. In the eight-year history of the conference, only Portland (five) and Santa Clara (three) have won WCC titles.

Talbott earned an assist on Kylee Barton's goal during the 26th minute, and later added a goal at 86:42 for the Pilots. Talbott had scored the overtime game-winner for Portland in 1997 contest against Santa Clara, which marked the last time the Broncos had lost a WCC match. During the streak, Santa Clara had outscored the opposition 99-4 with 15 shutouts.

On the opening goal, Talbott sent a through ball into the top of the box. As a Bronco defender and the goalkeeper converged on the ball, the ball popped loose ahead of Barton, who sent the ball into an open net.

Talbott scored the match's final goal when she back-heeled a pass to Lauren Mussallem to the left of the goal, who then dribbled toward the center before sending a through ball to Talbott, who knocked the touch past SCU's Crystal Gordon.

Santa Clara returns home and hosts 13th-ranked USC on Wednesday, Oct. 18. The match will begin at 7:30 p.m. at Buck Shaw Stadium.
