SANTA CLARA, Calif. - The Santa Clara University Alumni Association is hosting a pregame Bar-B-Que prior to the women's soccer game against Notre Dame on Friday, Sept. 14 at Alumni Park. The event is being held in conjunction with the campus' Welcome Weekend activities prior to Monday's first day of classes.
Tickets are $10 per person and advance reservations are required, call Lori Zemaitis in the alumni office at 408/5546800. Tickets to the pregame BBQ, which begins at 5:30 p.m., include dinner and refreshments. Tickets to the Santa Clara vs. Notre Dame shootout, which begins at 7:30 p.m. in Buck Shaw Stadium, are available by calling 408/554-4660 or by clicking here.

A Bronco regular-season record crowd of over 4,500 is expected for the match, which features two of the top college soccer programs in the country. Both teams are currently ranked among the top five in the national polls and have developed an intense rivalry over the past few years. The Irish defeated Santa Clara 2-1 in overtime last season in the NCAA national quarterfinals, preventing the Broncos from advancing to their fifth-straight College Cup, college soccer's version of the Final Four. In 1999, Notre Dame took a 1-0 win in the semifinals of the College Cup at Spartan Stadium.
