WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Freshman defender Jessica Ballweg scored from 30 yards out in the first half to lead the fifth-ranked Santa Clara women's soccer team to a 1-0 victory over No. 20 Wake Forest tonight at Spry Stadium.

The Broncos improve to 3-0 on the year while the Demon Deacons fall to 0-1-1.

Ballweg gave the Broncos the lead in the 33rd minute and it was enough, as the SCU defense held in the second half. Her shot was rocketed from 30 yards and was stopped by the Demon Deacon goalkeeper, but momentum carried the ball through the net.

The Broncos conclude play at the Nike Wake Forest against 13th-ranked Florida State on Sunday at 9 a.m.
