SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Sophomore forward Megan Kakadelas posted two goals and two assists as the Santa Clara University women's soccer team defeated San Francisco 6-0 in West Coast Conference action this afternoon at Buck Shaw Stadium. The fifth-ranked Broncos improve to 11-3-1, 3-0-0 in league play, while the Dons fall to 7-6-1, 0-3-0.

Santa Clara mounted an aggressive attack, and despite 12 offside violations, took 29 shots, while limiting USF to three.

Sophomore defender Jessica Ballweg earned the game-winner with her first goal of the season. Kakadelas' shot was punched away by Don goalkeeper Jennifer Orantes, leaving Ballweg with the easy put-back in the 30th minute.

Just seven minutes later, the Broncos pushed the lead to two goals. Kakadelas was breaking down the far side and crossed it to sophomore Leslie Osborne. Orantes and a Don defender recovered to prevent Osborne's shot, but Osborne was able to quickly pass to Bree Horvath, who was set in front of the goal, for the tap-in.

Kakadelas notched her first goal of the game three minutes later, taking a pass from senior Aly Wagner and chipping it to the back of the net.

The Broncos continued the strong offensive presence in the second period with two narrow misses on the Don goal, including a shot by Osborne that was punched away by Orantes, setting up a Bronco corner kick. Wagner took the shot and found Kakadelas, who scored her seventh goal of the season and put Santa Clara ahead 4-0.

Reserve Kristi Candau punched in her eighth goal of the season with a breakaway down the middle with 74:38 on the clock. Just 15 seconds later, freshman Micaela Esquivel recreated Candau's play for the team's sixth and final goal of the contest.

Santa Clara returns to the field in Southern California for two league matches next weekend. The Broncos will face Pepperdine on Friday, Oct. 25, at 3 p.m. and Loyola Marymount on Sunday at 1 p.m.
