Women's Soccer Wins Berkeley Tournament

BERKELEY, Calif. - The Santa Clara University women's soccer team successfully defended its 7v7 title with a 2-1 win over Stanford Saturday evening at Cal-Berkeley's annual tournament, held at Memorial Stadium.

The Broncos won the title with wins over Pacific, Air Force, San Jose State and Chico State. Santa Clara fell to Stanford earlier in the day during pool play. The Broncos defeated Saint Mary's in the semifinals and Stanford with a golden goal in overtime from freshman Tiffany Roberts.

Midfielder Casey Pleas scored her first collegiate goal during the day, while goalkeeper Amy Moraczewski earned her first collegiate shut out.

The Broncos won this event last spring as well, besting host Cal in the semifinal and Pacific in the final.

SCU is scheduled to conclude its spring season with a scrimmage against the Cardinal on Wednesday, May 19. The game will take place in Palo Alto at 7 p.m.
