SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Freshman Tina Estrada made the most of her first collegiate start, scoring two goals and netting an assist to lead the 10th-ranked Santa Clara University women's soccer team to a 5-1 victory over Georgia as part of the eighth annual Santa Clara adidas Classic, presented by Marriott, tonight at Buck Shaw Stadium. Second-ranked Notre Dame and No. 11 Stanford opened the tournament with a scoreless double overtime tie.

The Broncos, now 3-1-3, will host the Fighting Irish (6-0-1) Sunday afternoon at 1:30 p.m. Stanford (3-2-1) and Georgia (4-3-0) will kick off Sunday with a match at 11 a.m. Both contests will be broadcast on CSTV (Direct TV channel 610).

Estrada, who missed most of the preseason with mononucleosis and has only seen action in the last three games, scored just 10 minutes into the match, collecting the Georgia keeper's deflection off Veronica Zepeda's shot for the early lead.

Five minutes later, Leslie Osborne and Estrada connected on passes to Megan Kakadelas, who unmarked, slid the ball past Bulldog keeper Ashley Lindley to the lower right corner.

Georgia avoided the shutout just before intermission with a goal by Randi-Lynn Bruso. The Bronco defense failed to clear the ball with a header, and it took a Bulldog bounce, where Bruso collected and skipped past SCU netminder Julie Ryder.

Osborne increased the Bronco lead early in the second half. Marian Dalmy slipped a pass through three defenders to Osborne, who one-touched it and beat the oncoming keeper for the 3-1 lead.

She added her second goal of the half in the 62nd minute. Kakadelas headed the ball to an open space, but outran a defender to collect her own pass and served it to Osborne, who fired away from 14 yards.

Estrada capped SCU's scoring in the 88th minute with her second goal of the match.

Santa Clara out-shot Georgia 15-9 and was led by Ryder's five saves defensively. Lindley finished with four saves for Georgia.

Santa Clara head coach Jerry Smith mixed up the line-up, moving Jessica Ballweg to holding midfielder, and returning Micaela Esquivel to the defense, where she spent more of her freshman campaign. Dalmy, a forward, and Osborne, a midfielder, flipped positions for tonight's contest. The match also saw the return of defender Lana Bowen, who missed the past five games due a leg muscle injury.

In the opening match, Notre Dame controlled early and out-shot the Cardinal 13-7 but neither team scored in the physical contest that also saw a combined 31 fouls.
