STANFORD, Calif. - The 11th-ranked Santa Clara University women's soccer team shut out its third straight opponent, blanking Cal State Fullerton 1-0 this afternoon to conclude action at the Stanford Nike Classic at Maloney Field in Palo Alto. The Broncos' record improves to 4-2-1 while the Titans fall to 2-5-0 overall.

Senior midfielder Leslie Osborne converted a penalty kick in the 24th minute to put the Broncos ahead. Santa Clara drew the free attempt when senior forward Bree Horvath was taken down in the box.

Reserve forward Kendall Doherty headed a ball just high in the remaining five minutes of the period. It was the last of six shots the Broncos took in the frame.

The Titans got off a couple of shots to start the second half, but the Bronco offense remained strong, including a top-spin lob from freshman Brittany Klein, who watched the wind take her attempt into the crossbar.

Fullerton's Kandace Wilson took a strong attempt in the 70th minute that Bronco keeper Julie Ryder was able to push over the bar, one of six saves she recorded on the day.

Sophomore Tina Estrada added a free kick that bounced off the crossbar in the 75th minute.

Santa Clara will open the home season next weekend with the ninth annual adidas Classic. The Broncos will host Stanford, Marquette and Denver on Friday and Sunday at Buck Shaw Stadium. The Cardinal will be making their sixth trip to the Classic, and will face the Pioneers at 5 p.m. on Friday. Santa Clara will follow against the Golden Eagles at 7:30 p.m.
