Sept. 20, 2004

SAN BRUNO, Calif. - Senior midfielder Leslie Osborne was named the West Coast Conference Player of the Week for her performances in two matches this past weekend at the Stanford Nike Classic.

The Menomonee Falls, Wis., native scored two game-winning goals to lead the Broncos to the co-championship at the tournament. She converted a penalty kick in the 48th minute to lead SCU over 19th-ranked Yale and hand the Bulldogs their first loss this season. Osborne then added a penalty kick in the 24th minute against Cal State Fullerton. She is now sixth all-time in Bronco record books for career goals (40) and seventh in points (114).

As a holding midfielder, she was an integral part of the defense that held Yale to only one shot on goal.

Santa Clara will open the home season this weekend with the ninth annual adidas Classic. The Broncos will host Stanford, Marquette and Denver on Friday and Sunday at Buck Shaw Stadium. The Cardinal will be making their sixth trip to the Classic, and will face the Pioneers at 5 p.m. on Friday. Santa Clara will follow against the Golden Eagles at 7:30 p.m.
