Horvath Named WCC Player of the Week

SAN BRUNO, Calif. - Senior forward Bree Horvath was named one of the West Coast Conference Co-Players of the Week for her performances in the Bronco's match against Pepperdine this past weekend. She is the third straight and fourth overall Santa Clara player to be honored this season.

The Danville native scored the game-winner early in the second half as the Broncos clinched a share of their fourth straight West Coast Conference title. Horvath now has three goals for the season along with two assists.

Lindsey Huie of Portland was the other WCC Co-Player of the Week for her two goals and one assist in leading the pilot's to a 3-1 victory over Saint Mary's.

Santa Clara will face the University of California in the first round of the 2004 NCAA Women's Soccer Championship. The Broncos, the 2001 National Champions and 2002 College Cup finalists, are the tournament's 16th overall seed, and will host the first and second rounds of the 23rd NCAA Championship at Buck Shaw Stadium this Friday and Sunday.

The Broncos will face the Bears at Buck Shaw Stadium at 2 p.m. Pacific Time on Friday. Stanford and Cal Poly will face each other in the other game at 4:30 p.m. The winners will face each other on Sunday in a time to be announced on Tuesday.
