Feb. 25, 2006

CHICAGO, Ill. - U.S. Under-20 women's national team head coach Tim Schulz has named 23 players, including Santa Clara standouts Jordan Angeli and Amanda Poach, for a five-day camp from March 8-12 in College Station, Texas.

The USA will play five games in four days, taking on four college squads during their spring seasons. The USA will face host Texas A&M twice on March 9, followed by matches against Marquette (March 10), BYU (March 11) and Vanderbilt (March 12).

The U.S. U-20s are coming off a successful CONCACAF Women's U-20 final qualifying tournament in Mexico at the end of January. The USA won the tournament to secure a berth to the 2006 FIFA U-20 Women's World Championship, held in Russia from Aug. 17-Sept. 3, 2006.

FIFA has announced the venues for the competition that will take place in four stadiums in Moscow (Dinamo, Lokomotiv, Shelkovo and Torpedo) and one in St. Petersburg (Petrovsky).

Sixteen players who where on the CONCACAF qualifying roster have been called into the camp, including forwards Lauren Cheney and Jessica Rostedt, who scored four and three goals in the tournament, respectively.

Several players who were in Mexico were not called in due to school commitments and also time spent with the full women's national team. Defender Stephanie Lopez, who has been in two training camps with the full women's national team this year, will see her first action of 2006 with the U-20s.

A veteran of the U.S. team that played in the 2004 FIFA U-19 World Championship, Lopez will captain the U-20s in Russia. She, along with fellow defender Stephanie Logterman, are the most capped players on the roster at the U-19/U-20 level, each with 24 games played.
