Sports Illustrated's Faces in the Crowd (9/26)

SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Although Sports Illustrated's feature is called "Faces in the Crowd," Bronco fans won't have any problem picking Jordan Angeli out of the lineup of honorees in the magazine's latest issue, set to hit newsstands September 26.

Sports Illustrated recognized Angeli for her sterling performance two weeks ago at the Santa Clara adidas Classic. Against top-ranked Notre Dame, Angeli, who switched positions from defender to forward this season, netted both Bronco goals to vanquish the Irish 2-1. Two days later she again had a hand in a game-winning goal, assisting on Kendall Doherty's first collegiate goal to defeat Cal State Fullerton 1-0 and clinch the tournament title for Santa Clara.

For her efforts, the Lakewood, Colo. native earned a slew of national and conference honors. She was named tournament MVP following Sunday's match, then in succession was named WCC Player of the Week, to a spot on the national teams of the week for Soccer America, Soccer Buzz, and Top-Drawer Soccer, and finally, Soccer America's National Player of the Week.

Angeli currently leads the Broncos with 10 points on the strength of four goals and two assists on the season, helping Santa Clara get off to a 5-1-1 start and No. 5 ranking in the nation. The Broncos return to action at Buck Shaw Stadium this weekend, hosting Saint Louis tonight at 8 p.m. and 19th-ranked Cal Poly Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m.
