Sept. 11, 2006

SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Meagan Snell's playmaking talents were on display once again at the UCLA Women's Cup this past weekend, as the junior forward scored a pair of clutch goals, the first equalizing Friday's contest against Connecticut, and the second being the game-winner in Sunday's win over Texas A&M. For her efforts in both Bronco wins, Snell was named the WCC Player of the Week, the conference announced Monday.

With her goals against the Huskies and Aggies, Snell became only the eighth women's soccer player in Santa Clara history to find the net in four consecutive matches, a streak which is tied for third-longest in program history.

Friday night, with the third-ranked Broncos trailing 1-0, Snell collected a the deflection of teammate Jordan Angeli's shot and buried it in the 55th minute to knot things up at one-apiece. SCU went on to capture the victory in double overtime.

Sunday, facing No. 3 Texas A&M, Snell put Santa Clara ahead for good in the 51st minute as she took a Brittany Klein pass, created room near the top of the box, and let loose with a laser beam that blew past the goalkeeper's fingertips and into the top of the net for her team-leading fourth goal of the season.

Snell will attempt to find the net for the fifth straight match this Friday night as the No. 3 Broncos travel up to Stanford for the Stanford Nike Classic to take on the No. 21 Boston University Terriers at 5 p.m. at Maloney Field. SCU will close out weekend action against No. 11 Tennessee Sunday at 11:30 a.m.
