SANTA CLARA, Calif. - After proving themselves through one of the toughest regular-season schedules of any team in 2006, the West Coast Conference champion Santa Clara women's soccer team was rewarded Tuesday morning as five players were named to the Soccer Buzz All-West Region teams, led by first-team performers Marian Dalmy and Lauren Zealear.

In addition to Dalmy and Zealear being named to the first team, forward Meagan Snell and midfielder Brittany Klein were each named second-team performers while freshman forward Kiki Bosio found a place on the All-Freshman Team.

Dalmy and Zealear were a major part of a back line that was one of the nation's best in 2006, shutting out 11 opponents and allowing only 0.65 goals against. Dalmy was also named the West Coast Conference Player of the Year after not only playing her role on defense, but also being one of the team's main offensive threats from her outside back position, leading all WCC back-liners with six goals, six assists, and 18 points.

Snell and Klein, named to the All-West Region Second Team, were big contributors on offense, as Snell led the Broncos on the year with 11 goals and 25 points, and Klein added five goals and 11 points from her midfield position.

Bosio, a freshman forward out of Mission Viejo, made an immediate impact with the Broncos, earning MVP honors at the season-opening Santa Clara adidas Classic back in late August. The precocious playmaker ended the year as one of the WCC's top freshmen, as she tallied three goals, a team-leading eight assists, and 14 points while leading SCU with 25 shots on goal.

Soccer Buzz will announce its All-America teams Wednesday, December 13.
