Quotes: Santa Clara Women's Soccer vs. No. 2 Notre Dame

Sept. 8, 2007

Recap |  Final Stats

Head Coach Jerry Smith, On tonight's game:
It has always been a good rivalry between Santa Clara and Notre Dame and tonight was a really good game. I have to give a lot of credit to the players. They really came together tonight. Before the game, they told each other in order to have a great year, they are going to have to be tough and they played tough tonight. I'm really proud of them.

On the Broncos' backline:
The backline we have this year, is not what we expected it would be. Katherine Reynolds, Anessa Patton, Chioma Igwe and Lindsey Johnson are all playing new positions and they have really worked as a unified defensive unit to play against a very talented Notre Dame front line. To limit the star-studded front line that includes the 2006 National Player of the Year to just one goal is amazing.

On Kiki Bosio:
She is off to a great start. She does a dangerous flip throw that allows us to be dangerous and take chances on the field. Tonight she handled the ball really well under pressure.

On Brittany Klein:
Brittany has amazing leadership. She knows how to make smart decisions, like the chip shot she made that was just low enough to find the back of the net. She has great composure and knows when and how to do the right thing and the right moment.

On Meagan Snell:
Snell is a well trained athlete who has been able to make a great transition between forward and midfielder. It's hard to take your leading scorer from last season and move her to the midfield to fill in some gaps, but she did score a goal from that spot tonight.
