SANTA CLARA, Calif. - The 2007 Santa Clara adidas Classic finale ended in a stalemate as the Santa Clara women's soccer team tied the University of Virginia, 0-0, in double overtime. The Broncos improved to a 2-0-1 record this weekend and finished second in the tournament to the Cardinal of Stanford. Brittany Klein, Kiki Bosio and Meagan Snell received all-tournament team honors.

Over the course of the weekend, Klein and Bosio compiled five points each by netting two goals and dishing out one assist. Klein was perfect in shots-on-goal and produced a .667 overall shooting percentage. Snell jumped between forward and midfield for the Broncos this weekend, scoring one of her two goals from the midfield position.

"The type of game we saw this afternoon is what we expected from this tournament," said head coach Jerry Smith. "There should have been four very tight games given the quality of the teams participating in this year's tournament. Both teams were very tough defensively and we were the fresher team going into the second half and the overtime periods."

The Broncos defense was crucial in both games this weekend, limiting the Fighting Irish to one lone goal and successfully holding off the Cavaliers to no goals. Goalkeeper Meagan McCray tallied 11 saves and a .917 saves percentage this weekend to her opponents, seven saves. Aiding in SCU's defensive plays this weekend were Katherine Reynolds, Anessa Patton, Chioma Igwe and Lindsey Johnson.

"I have to give a lot of credit to our back four players and to Curtis McAlister who works a lot with them," said Smith. "They played against two very tough teams and came together really well to put a stop to both of them. I also have to give credit to our goalkeeper, Meagan McCray. Although she didn't make a ton of saves today, those that she did make were smart. She definitely made her job look easy this afternoon."

Against Virginia, redshirt senior Tina Estrada led the Broncos with three total shots, with one on goal. Freshman Jessie Baddley made two attempts for a goal for SCU, while Snell, Johnson, Klein and Alyssa Chun each attempted one shot.

Santa Clara returns to action next weekend at the 2007 Stanford Invitational. In their first game of the tournament, the Broncos will face the Scarlet Knights of Stanford at 5 p.m. PT on Friday, Sept. 14. SCU concludes action next weekend against Missouri on Sunday, Sept. 16 at 11 a.m. PT.
