SANTA CLARA, Calif. - In their first game of the 2007 Stanford Tournament, the No. 1 Santa Clara women's soccer team rallied from a 1-0 deficit to defeat No. 12 Rutgers, 2-1 in overtime. With the win the Broncos improved to 3-0-1 on the season, while the Scarlet Knights faced their first lost of the year, 4-1-0.

"Once again it goes back to Brittany Klein," said head coach Jerry Smith. "Tonight we made the decision to move her to holding midfielder at halftime, which helped us steady out our pace. We also added in Kendall Doherty and Jessie Baddley in the second half. Those changes opened up a lot of opportunities for us."

Courtney Lewis netted the first goal for Santa Clara with just two minutes left in the game. The action began with a corner kick that ended up in the middle of the scuffle at the net. With two minutes left, the Broncos had all their players in the box, attempting to score, but it was Lewis' left foot that made the touch to tap the ball in.

With the score tied 1-1, Santa Clara and Rutgers went into overtime. With the attack coming down the left side of the field, the ball was crossed all the way to the opposite side of the penalty box and landed at the feet of Reynolds, who shot it to the lower right of the goal.

The Broncos return to action on Sunday, Sept. 16 at the Stanford Tournament. Santa Clara will face No. 20 Missouri at 11 a.m. PT.
