SANTA CLARA, Calif. - The No. 1 Santa Clara women's soccer team concluded play at the 2007 Stanford Tournament with a 2-1 triumph over No. 20 Missouri. Scoring the game-winning goal for the Broncos was redshirt senior Tina Estrada, who found the back of the goal on a deflection off of Tigers' goalkeeper Mallory Forst in the 72nd minute. With the win the Broncos improved to 4-0-1 overall, while the Tigers dropped to 4-2-0.

Missouri opened the game with a breakaway goal from Michelle Collins off a pass from Kristin Andrighetto. The remainder of the first half saw the Broncos take five shots that found the hands of Forst. Yet, just under the 33 minute mark, sophomore Kiki Bosio found redshirt sophomore midfielder Courtney Lewis dead center, who chipped the ball in to tie the score 1-1.

The majority of the second half was equally matched as each team found it hard to take any shots. Yet, that all changed when Estrada subbed back into the match. Freshman defender Maxine Goynes had a shot that hit the post and bounced off the hands of Forst, landing right at the feet of Estrada in the 72nd minute. The goal was her second of the season.

With the one-point edge, the Broncos continued to fight aggressively for the ball with Estrada attempting two more shots to widen SCU's lead. The Tigers' Collins tried again at the 83rd minute to knot the score, but senior goalkeeper Meagan McCray was ready to stop anything that came her way. Santa Clara's defense stepped in to hold back Missouri and finished the weekend, 2-0.

The Broncos remains on the road next weekend as they travel to Arizona for two contests. Santa Clara beings action in the Grand Canyon State on Friday, Sept. 21 against Arizona State at 7 p.m., PT. The Broncos then face the Wildcats of Arizona on Sunday, Sept. 23 at 1 p.m., PT.
