SANTA CLARA, Calif. - The fifth-ranked Santa Clara women's soccer team will face Cal State Fullerton and San Diego this week on the road. The Broncos and Titans square off on Friday, Oct. 12 at 7 p.m., in Fullerton, Calif., while SCU begins West Coast Conference play against USD on Sunday, Oct. 14, at 1 p.m., at Torero Stadium.
Last Week For Bronco Women's Soccer
SCU enters this week with a 7-2-2 overall record. Over the weekend, the Broncos took then-No. 1 Stanford to a 0-0 double-overtime decision on Friday night and then lost a hard-fought 4-1 contest against then-No. 2 UCLA. Scoring the lone goal for Santa Clara this weekend was captain Brittany Klein. The senior midfielder leads the Broncos with 11 points and five goals.
Sophomore Kiki Bosio is second on the team with 10 points on three goals and four assists, while redshirt senior Tina Estrada is third in points with nine and tied for second on the team with Courtney Lewis in goals with four. Sophomore Lexi Orand and Bosio are tied for first on the team in assists, dishing out four each, while junior goalkeeper Meagan McCray has seen the majority of the action between the posts for Santa Clara. She has collected 60 saves and posted four shutouts.

This weekend's soccer games will be accessible online via the websites of the host schools. Broncos In The Polls
Santa Clara finds itself it the middle of the top 10 this week in four of the five weekly polls. The Broncos highest ranking of the week, No. 5, has been given by Soccer Buzz. SCU claims the No. 6 spot in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA), Soccer America and TopDrawerSoccer.com polls. Soccer Times has placed the Broncos in ninth place in their top 25 this week.
McCray Enters New All-Time Lists In Bronco Record Books
After a stellar performance against then-No. 1 Stanford Friday night, junior goalkeeper McCray entered two new all-time leader lists. McCray has compiled 135 career saves and now ranks seventh on the all-time career saves list. Her .740 goal-against average for her three years on the Mission Campus places her fourth on all-time list, while her 13 career gives her ninth place on that list.
McCray also entered the single season saves list this week as she as tallied 60 thus far this season and now claims the No. 6 and No. 7 spot on that list. Last season, she tallied 96 saves, for sixth place. Estrada remains two goals shy of joining the record books. The redshirt senior has netted 30 career goals and two more will tie her with Kathleen Celio (1997-00) and Brandi Chastain (1989-90) for the No. 10 spot.
Broncos On The National Stage
Santa Clara made another jump this week in the national rankings as the Broncos moved from No. 44 to No. 32 overall in saves percentage and their shutout percentage climbed four spots to No. 60. In won-loss-tied percentage, Santa Clara is 41st in the nation and checks in at No. 73 in scoring offense. In goals-against average, SCU ranks 90th overall.
Individually, Orand continues to be a presence in the assists per game category, as she is ranked 91st in the nation. McCray drops to No. 46 overall in saves percentage, while moving to No. 94 in goals-against average.
Santa Clara in WCC
For the first time since the season began, SCU does not hold first place in the West Coast Conference this week after posting a 0-0 double-overtime stalemate with then-No. 1 Stanford and the heartbreaking 4-1 loss to then-No. 2 UCLA. Sunday's opponent, San Diego moves into the No. 1 spot this week with a 9-1-2 overall record. Yet, the Broncos continue to rank in the top five in seven categories this week. SCU moves up one spot to No. 2 in the league, while holding steady at No. 3 in points and goals. The Broncos check in at No. 4 in goals-against average, goals allowed and shutouts, while tying Pepperdine for the No. 5 spot in assists. SCU drops one spot to seventh overall in shots.
Individually, goalkeeper McCray has moved up to first place in the conference in saves. She is also ranked fourth in shutouts and sixth in goals-against average. Klein jumps to second place in goals and is tied for sixth in points, while Lewis and Estrada are tied for fifth in that same category. In assists, Orand and Bosio are neck-to-neck at fourth place. Bosio is also tied for ninth in points and 10th in shots per game, while Estrada claims the No. 7 spot in shots per game.

Scouting Cal State Fullerton
The Titans will face the Broncos with a 6-5-1 overall record this season. Fullerton enters Friday night's contest after dropping two games last weekend to UC Santa Barbara and Cal Poly. The Titans were shutout in both contests, although Brianna Buffington and Lauren Cram led the attack combining for seven total shots over the two games.
Cram leads the Titans this season with 11 points on five goals and one assists. Janae Gibbons and Stacey Thompson tie for second on the team with seven points each. Gibbons has compiled three goals and one assist, while Thompson leads the Titans with three assists and has netted two goals.
The Broncos own a 3-0-1 series record and last faced the Titans on Sept. 24, 2006. In that contest, Santa Clara posted a 2-0 victory with recent alum Marian Dalmy scoring both goals.
Scouting San Diego
The Toreros post a 9-1-2 season record heading into thus weekend and earned a No. 16 National ranking after adding two wins over the weekend to CS Bakersfield and Arizona State. Forward Ashleigh Shoughro scored a goal in each game, while goalkeeper Brittany Cameron tallied eight saves against ASU.
San Diego is currently riding a seven-game winning streak that has been fueled by offensive threats Shoughro, Lee Ann Robinson and Amy Epsten. Epsten leads USD with 13 points and six goals, while Robinson and Shoughro are tied with four goals each. Robinson also leads the Toreros in assists, dishing out four for 12 points thus far.
At home San Diego is 4-0-2, with Cameron earning six shutouts this season. Santa Clara leads the overall series 12-3-0 against San Diego. In their last meeting against the Toreros, on Oct. 8, 2006, the Broncos shutout USD, 2-0, at Buck Shaw Stadium.
On Deck
The Broncos return to Buck Shaw Stadium on Wednesday, Oct. 17 as they host the Gauchos of UC Santa Barbara. Kick off is scheduled for 7 p.m. Santa Clara remains at home to face Pepperdine in WCC action on Friday, Oct. 19 at 6 p.m. Finally, the Broncos close their brief home stand with a Noon contest against the Lions of LMU on Sunday, Oct. 21.
