SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Sophomore Kiki Bosio scored her seventh goal of the season to lift the Santa Clara women's soccer team to a 1-0 victory over San Francisco in West Coast Conference action. With the win the Broncos improved to 3-3-0 in WCC play and 11-5-3 on the season, while the Dons dropped to 2-12-3 overall and 2-4-0 in league games.

"We started today games with a new lineup due to some injuries, but we played well," said head coach Jerry Smith. "We had a lot of good chances that were close in on the goal, but we were just unable to finish them."

In the first half, the Broncos started things off with a shot by Courtney Lewis in the second minute that was blocked. Katherine Reynolds then took her first shot of the day but the Dons' goalkeeper Katie Hodgson was there to make the save. The Broncos continued to control the action, as Meagan Snell's attempt in the 14th minute hit the post. It was the first of three Santa Clara shots to narrowly escape the net and bounce off the post. The next shot to hit the post was from Lexi Orand, who tried to get the Broncos on the scoreboard in the 27th minute. Freshman Anessa Patton made SCU's final shot of the first half in the 42nd minute but it was blocked by a USF defender.

After 45 minutes of scoreless action, the teams took the field for the second half, which proved to be fruitful for the Broncos. In the 57th minute, Bosio, who was wide right, received a long pass from the Broncos' backline and dribbled her way centrally past two Dons to take a hard left-footed shot from 18 yards out. The ball reached the left corner of the net and Santa Clara grabbed a 1-0 lead. Five minutes later Reynolds tried to widen the gap for Santa Clara but her shot was saved. USF fought hard to tie the game, but three of their five shots in the latter half were saved by junior Meagan McCray.

Santa Clara returns to Buck Shaw Stadium for their final contest of the regular season on Saturday, Nov. 10. The Broncos will host the Gaels of Saint Mary's on Senior Day with kick off scheduled for 1 p.m.
