SANTA CLARA, Calif. - The Santa Clara women's soccer team had five student-athletes named to Soccer Buzz's All-West Region team it was announced Friday by the publication. Senior captain Brittany Klein was honored with a spot on the All-West First Team, while sophomores Kiki Bosio and Katherine Reynolds earned third team honors. Freshman Maxine Goynes and Kendra Perry rounded out the accolades for the Broncos as they were both named to the All-Freshman team.
Klein had an impressive senior campaign serving as a second year captain for the Broncos. She tied the team-best seven goals and finished second on the team with 16 points. The Arcadia, Calif., native also netted a team-best three game-winning goals this season. The senior midfielder produced one of her career best performance on Sept. 7 against then-No. 2 Notre Dame. Klein posted a season-high five points as she scored two goals and dished out a key assist on Courtney Lewis' goal. For her team-leading efforts, she received All-West Coast Conference First Team honors as well as the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) All-West Third Team accolades. She finished her career on the Mission Campus with 38 points on 15 career goals and eight assists.
Bosio and Reynolds also played integral roles in Santa Clara's success this season. Bosio tied the team-best seven goals and led the team with 20 points and six assists. The Mission Viejo, Calif., native also compiled a career high performance against Notre Dame as she tallied five points on two goals and one assist. Bosio was also named to the All-WCC First Team as well as the NSCAA's All-West Second Team for her performance this season. Reynolds' sophomore campaign featured impressive defensive efforts as well as two signature goals. The Medina, Wash., native helped the Broncos shutout seven of their opponents this season including then-No. 1 Stanford and Virginia. Both of her goals this season lifted the Broncos to victories over then-No. 12 Rutgers and CS Fullerton. Reynolds earned her first league honor this season as she was named to the WCC all-conference second team.
Freshman Goynes and Perry received their second all-freshman honors this season as they were both named to the All-WCC Freshman team. Goynes saw time 18 of the Broncos' 21 contests this season and earned a starting position in 13 of those games. Meanwhile, Perry has seen action in all 21 contests this season and started in 20 games. Both players had integral roles in Santa Clara's victories over then-No. 2 Notre Dame, Loyola Marymount, Pepperdine and Saint Mary's, while helping the Broncos to a 0-0 shutout of then-No. 1 Stanford.
The Broncos earned their 19th consecutive trip to the NCAA Tournament where they fell 2-0 to No. 16 California in the first round. Santa Clara finished the season with a 12-6-3 overall record and a 4-3-0 mark in the WCC, which tied SCU with Loyola Marymount for third place in the conference.
