SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- Junior Katherine Reynolds and former Bronco standout Brittany Klein '08 represented the US U23 National Team in La Manga, Spain as part of a three-team competition. The SCU duo were two-of-18 players selected from both collegiate and professional teams for the week long trip, from January 31 to February 6. The Bronco tandem helped lead the US to a perfect, 2-0, record while in Spain, as both Klein and Reynolds started in both contests played. Klein, posted her second goal in 12 caps for the US, as the Arcadia, Calif. native scored in the fifth minute of play in the U23's, 3-0, routing of England on February 6.
Klein, who was drafted No. 14 overall by the Chicago Red Stars in the WPS General Draft this past January, started and played the full 90 minutes in the American's, 1-0, defeat over Norway on February 4. The game was the U23's first international match of the year. She started and played 86 minutes versus England.
Reynolds started and played 82 minutes versus Norway, and started and played 62 minutes versus England at defender, in her fifth and sixth career caps. She helped lead the US defense to shutout both European opponents. The Medina, Wash. native led the Bronco offense in 2008 with three goals and four assists. She capped her junior campaign earning All-WCC First Team honors and WCC All-Academic honors. She also earned WCC Player of the Week and Soccer America Team of the Week accolades on October 20, after scoring two goals and notching an assist, in SCU's, 3-0, win over University of San Francisco.
Current Bronco freshman goalkeeper Bianca Henninger and incoming freshmen in 2009, Olivia Klei and Allie Vernon, were all named to the US U20 and U18 Super Camp Roster. The trio, who are currently members of the U20 player pool, were three-of-48 players from across the country invited to come to a training camp in Chula Vista, Calif. from January 25 to February 1. The five day combine showcased players in order to establish rosters for the 2010 U20 Women's World Cup in Germany.
In her first season at SCU, Henninger earned WCC All-Freshman Team accolades. She boasted 20 saves in seven games. She started in three contests and earned her first career win at Cal State Fullerton on September 7.
