This Week for Bronco Women's Soccer
The Santa Clara women's soccer team will travel to No. 3 University of Portland to take on the Pilots live on ESPNU. Kick off is set for 1:30 p.m. PT on Sunday, Nov. 2.
Last Week for Women's Soccer
The Broncos were edged 2-1 by both Loyola Marymount and Pepperdine this past weekend in Southern California on their first conference road trip.
In Los Angeles, Santa Clara fell 2-1 to LMU on Oct. 24. Anessa Patton scored SCU's lone goal in the 77th minute off a Lexi Orand assist. Orand crossed the ball to Patton who volleyed it from six yards out over the Lions' goal keeper. Santa Clara was the more aggressive team and statistically led the game in shots 21-11. Senior keeper Meagan McCray got the start in goal and had one save in the game.
Two days later, the Broncos traveled to Malibu to take on the Waves of Pepperdine. Junior Katherine Reynolds converted a penalty kick in the 48th minute, after Chelsea Bednarz was fouled in the box. McCray and Bianca Henninger split time in goal for Santa Clara. McCray notched four saves in the first half and conceded the Waves' two goals. Freshman Henninger kept Pepperdine scoreless in the second half, but the SCU offense could not get the ball to the back of the net to come back from behind.

SCU to Play Live on ESPNU
The Broncos will play live on the national stage for the second time this season. On Sunday, Nov. 2, Santa Clara will travel to No. 3 Portland to take on the Pilots live on ESPNU at 1:30 p.m. PT.
Reynolds Leads SCU Offense
Tri-captain Katherine Reynolds is Santa Clara's offensive leader after converting her second penalty kick of the season at Pepperdine on Oct. 26. Reynolds has scored three goals in three games for the Broncos. The junior from Medina, Wash. who has started and played in all 18 games this season has tallied three goals, four assists and 10 points.
Sophomore Patton Reaches Back of the Net
Sophomore Anessa Patton scored her second goal of the season and of her career at LMU on Oct. 24. Patton scored the Broncos lone goal against the Lions off a Lexi Orand assist.
McCray Leads Bronco Defense
Regardless of Santa Clara's overall record, solo starting senior Meagan McCray has been the heart of the Bronco defense. The SCU goal keeper has started and played in 15 games this season, posts 56 saves and has a 1.54 goals against average. McCray has shutout two teams this season, Yale and then No. 2 UCLA.
Scouting No. 3 University of Portland
The No. 3 University of Portland returns home from playing Bay Area rivals San Francisco and Saint Mary's to host Santa Clara. The Pilots are 15-1-0, 5-0-0 WCC this season, suffering their only loss at home to UCLA, 1-0. The Broncos took the Bruins to a scoreless double overtime draw this season, when UCLA was nationally ranked No. 2.
On Oct. 24 in San Francisco, UP defeated the Dons 2-0. Sophie Schmidt was credited with both Pilots goals in the game. At the 25:08 minute mark, Schmidt had a breakaway and scored an unassisted goal. Fifty-one seconds later, Schmidt took a Portland throw in that bounced into the net off San Francisco's goalie. UP had 24 shots to the Dons' three shots in the game.
Two days later, they shutout the Gaels of Saint Mary's 3-0. Schmidt scored her third goal of the weekend less than a minute into the game. In the second half, Danielle Foxhoven and Elli Reed each got on the board solidifying the Pilot win. Keeper Kelsey Davis had one save on the Gaels four shots in the game.
Foxhoven leads the Portland offense with 14 goals, two assists and 30 points, and Schmidt brought her goal total to eight after her high scoring weekend. She has also notched three assists and 19 points in 15 games. Goalie Davis has started and played in all 16 games this season, allowing four goals and tallying 12 shutouts.

The Broncos close out the regular season on Saturday, Nov. 8, at home when they host Gonzaga. Kick off is set for 1 p.m. PT.
