SANTA CLARA, Calif. - For their outstanding performance both on the field and in the classroom, Santa Clara University soccer forwards Brian Martin and Kiki Bosio were named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District VIII First Team, it was announced Thursday. This is a first-time honor for both student-athletes.

Martin is a three-year letterwinner for the Broncos and has compiled a 3.90 grade-point average as a finance major. As a senior this season he has started in 14 of Santa Clara's 15 games and is tied for second on the team with two goals and is fourth with four points. Martin has played an integral role in the Broncos front line this season. He is third on the team in shots (21) and leads the squad with shots on goal (10). He scored his first goal of the season against then-No. 16 Illinois-Chicago and then converted a penalty kick against UW-Milwaukee to help to Broncos to a 2-1 win. For his career he has six goals, nine assists and 21 points.

Junior Kiki Bosio


Bosio, a Bronco tri-captain boasts a 3.89 overall GPA as an accounting major. Entering this season, Bosio was named to the M.A.C. Hermann Trophy Watch list. The M.A.C. Hermann Trophy is the highest honor in women's soccer and Watch list selections are elite players across the nation. This season Bosio has already been honored twice as all-tournament team selections at the Inn at Saint Mary's Soccer Classic, hosted at Notre Dame, and the Santa Clara/adidas Soccer Classic. She has one goal and one assist on the season.

The women's soccer team faces Portland on the road on Saturday, Nov. 1 at 1:30 p.m. on ESPNU. The men's soccer team hosts Gonzaga and Portland this weekend at Buck Shaw Stadium. The Broncos and Zags face off on Friday, Oct. 31 at 7 p.m., while SCU and Portland battle on Sunday, Nov. 2 at 2 p.m.
