SANTA CLARA
, Calif. - Santa Clara University women's soccer has already been recognized for having one of the top recruiting classes in the country for the 2011 season by TopDrawerSoccer.com and now the program has landed three players on the Top 100 Freshmen list. The three Broncos to make the list were Sofia Huerta at No. 25, Cate Parchinski at No. 60 and Katie Speidel at No. 89.

"Signing a new class is always exciting," said Santa Clara head coach Jerry Smith when the signings were announced in February. "This class is especially exciting for us because it rivals the best class we've ever signed here at Santa Clara University. Of course, we'll find out several years from now, but I truly believe this class has a chance to have a major impact in each of the next four years. I'm really looking forward to adding this very talented class of recruits to a great group of returning players here at Santa Clara University."

Huerta had a sizzling month of October. She scored eight goals and added two assists after several near misses earlier in the season. On Oct. 2 against San Diego State Huerta registered the first Bronco hat trick since Leslie Osborne accomplished the feat against Pepperdine on Oct. 19, 2003 in a 5-0 Santa Clara win. In the next game, against Saint Mary's, Huerta added two more goals including the deciding goal in overtime in the Broncos' 2-1 win. She currently sits second on the team in goals and points behind sophomore Julie Johnston. Huerta also is seventh in the WCC with 19 points and tied for fourth in the conference with eight goals.

Parchinski has added three goals and three assists to help pace the Bronco offense this season. Her first career goal came against then-No. 11 UC Irvine in a 1-1 tie at the Stanford Nike Invitational on Sept. 9. Meleana Shim centered the ball to Parchinski who knocked a header past the goalkeeper and into the back of the net. Her nine points are good for fourth on the Santa Clara team.

Speidel has scored one goal on the season and appeared in 17 games coming off of the bench. She scored her only collegiate goal in Santa Clara's 3-0 win over then-No. 17 Cal. Olivia Klei crossed the ball from the left side of the field and Speidel one-touched it into the net.
