Santa Clara will play in the Stanford Tournament this weekend with games on Fri., Sept. 7 at 4:30 p.m. vs. #24 Georgetown and then will host Boston University on Sun., Sept. 9 at 1 p.m.

The Broncos are 2-2-1 so far in the young 2012 season. They have taken down No. 15 Cal 1-0 and UC Riverside 3-0 while falling at No. 1 Stanford in the season-opener. In the Notre Dame Adidas Invitational the Broncos lost to 2010 national champion Notre Dame and battled to a 1-1 tie with Connecticut.

Sarah Jackson and Olivia Klei lead the team with two goals each and with one assist as well, Jackson leads the team with five points. Meleana Shim, Lauren Matheson and Dani Weatherholt have each added one goal and Kat McAuliffe has the only other Bronco assist. Freshman goalkeeper Andi Tostanoski has collected 29 saves and picked up one shutout while starting all five games.

Santa Clara has been without its top-scorers from 2011 as junior and 2011 All-American Julie Johnston and 2011 First-Team All-WCC sophomore Sofia Huerta have been at the U-20 Women's World Cup in Japan. Johnston, the captain of the U.S. squad, is gearing up to play in the championship vs. Germany on Sat., Sept. 8 at 3:20 a.m. PDT. Huerta has rejoined the team after the Mexican National Team she was playing for was eliminated by Nigeria in the quarterfinals by a score of 1-0 in double overtime. She scored one goal in each of her team's first three games.
