SANTA CLARA, Calif. – With its long tradition of excellence, Santa Clara women's soccer is set to welcome a new class of freshmen to the Mission campus. SantaClaraBroncos.com will introduce one incoming player a day for the next eight days. Next up is Jordan Jesolva of La Mirada, Calif. The complete list is below.
"Jordan Jesolva will be a holding midfielder for us," said Santa Clara head coach Jerry Smith, entering his 27th season leading the Broncos. "She is a big presence and very good in the air. She drives the ball over the defense very well, sort of in the same vein as Jordan Angeli did for us. Jordan will anchor our midfield going forward."
"I chose Santa Clara for many reasons," said Jesolva. "The academics, the location of the school and the soccer team. Once I met the team and coaches, I knew it was the right college for me."
Jesolva attended Sonora High School in La Habra, Calif. where she played soccer her freshman and junior years. Both seasons Jesolva led her team in goals and assists and was named All-League. Her team advanced to the first round of the CIF playoffs both years.
Jesolva's club team the Blues were 2012 Surf Cup champions, 2012 National League champions, 2012 State and Regional champions and played in eight state finals. In 2011 Jesolva was named to the Elite Eleven at the national championships and took part in the National Team camp.
Her sister Megan played soccer at Cal and for the Atlanta Beat of Women's Professional Soccer. Her father Frank played baseball in college at Cerritos.
In high school Jesolva was part of the Best Buds program, the Special Olympics and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. In her free time she enjoys shopping, sports, the beach and music.
