Meet the Future of Santa Clara Women's Soccer: Emily Johnson

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – With its long tradition of excellence, Santa Clara women's soccer is set to welcome a new class of freshmen to the Mission campus. SantaClaraBroncos.com will introduce one incoming player a day for the next eight days. Next up is Emily Johnson of Scotts Valley, Calif.

"Santa Clara has a soccer program that is not only successful and well developed, but the program is also inviting," said Johnson. "I was very impressed with Santa Clara's emphasis on collaboration rather than competition. As I see it, the goal at Santa Clara is not to be better than everyone else, but it is to work together so that everyone comes out of the college experience well-rounded and well-educated. Because of the soccer program, the academics and the overall welcoming atmosphere, I am looking forward to attending Santa Clara University."

"Emily Johnson will add to our goalkeeping corps next season as one of three goalkeepers," said Santa Clara head coach Jerry Smith, entering his 27th season leading the Broncos. "She's a very bright student studying engineering and is someone that will come in here very well prepared."
