Meet the Future of Santa Clara Women's Soccer: Noel Baham

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – With its long tradition of excellence, Santa Clara women's soccer is set to welcome a new class of freshmen to the Mission campus. SantaClaraBroncos.com will introduce one incoming player a day for the next eight days. The first player is Noel Baham of Redlands, Calif.

"All aspects of Santa Clara are a perfect fit," said Baham. "The coaching staff is exceptional and the team is very kind and fun. Academically the school is wonderful and hopefully a career I enjoy will follow. The location is perfect and it is located in an absolutely beautiful area. All around Santa Clara will be a very nice fit for me."

"Noel will be a forward for us," said Santa Clara head coach Jerry Smith, entering his 27th season leading the Broncos. "One of the dimensions she'll add to our team is great speed. She'll be one of the fastest players on our team, if not the fastest. We'll look forward to Noel being able to stretch defenses as well as create dangerous opportunities for the team."

Baham attended Redlands High School where she was coached by Jennifer Classen. Her performance netted her All-League accolades. As a junior in high school she scored 25 goals with 16 assists and was named First-Team All-League. Her team advanced to the second round of the playoffs. Her sophomore year Bayham scored 16 goals and added 10 assists. She also ran track at Redlands High School.

Baham's club team, Fram Soccer Club, was the 2012 Far West Regional Champions as well as the 2012 Surf Cup Champions.

Baham's father Leon played baseball at the University of Redlands for four years and went on to play professionally for eight. Her brother Leon ran track for four years at UC San Diego.

In her free time Baham enjoys, soccer, reading, running and creative writing.
