SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara junior forward Julie Johnston has been named one of Glamour Magazine's Top-10 Collegiate Women. It is just one of many honors that have come to Johnston over the past year and a half. Johnston has also gotten her first cap with the Women's National Team, won the U-20 World Cup as the captain of the U.S. squad and won the Bronze Ball.
"It is a huge honor to be named to the Glamour list," said Johnston. "I was surprised when I heard that I was even being considered. The other girls on the list have done such amazing things and I feel very special to be put alongside them. Being recognized for your hard work is always rewarding and this has been such a great experience. Going to New York for the photo shoot was a lot of fun. I got experience some things that I never had experienced before. It's been just an amazing time."

A two-time First-Team All-American, captain of the U-20 World Cup champion, Bronze Ball winner, M.A.C. Hermann Trophy semi-finalist and U.S. Soccer Young Female Athlete of the Year. Just when you think it couldn't get any better she gets her first cap with the full U.S. Women's National team. To accomplish all of that and be listed alongside some incredible college women is something we're all very proud of."
For 56 years Glamour's Top 10 College Women competition has recognized 10 students from across the country for campus leadership, scholastic achievement, community involvement, and unique, inspiring goals. Past winners range from Martha Stewart to former Dallas mayor Laura Miller.
Glamour will celebrate the Top 10 winners in New York City tomorrow, April 3, with an awards ceremony and panel discussion exploring the topic, "How to Build Your Personal Brand and Land Your Dream Job,"hosted by Editor-in-Chief Cindi Leive and moderated by MSNBC's Alex Wagner, host of Now with Alex Wagner, and featuring Anna Chlumsky of HBO's Veep, The Daily Show with Jon Stewart correspondent Jessica Williams, Golden Globe-nominated Covert Affairs star Piper Perabo, Chief Digital Officer for the City of New York Rachel Sterne Haot, and Teach for America founder Wendy Kopp. The evening is made possible by L'Oréal Paris.

Despite missing the team's first seven games while leading the U.S. to a U-20 World Cup victory as the squad's captain and winning the Bronze Ball, Johnston was a First-Team All-WCC selection while leading the team in goals with eight and points with 21 in 2012. She added five assists while attempting 53 with 27 on goal. Johnston added three game-winning goals including one in overtime vs. CSU Northridge on Sept. 21. She finished second in the conference in goals per game (0.53) and points per game (1.40).
As a sophomore, Johnston led the Broncos with nine goals and 22 points. She also led the conference with four game-winning goals. Her play during the week of Sept. 19 nabbed her WCC Player of the Week honors. That week Johnston scored the only goal in a 1-0 Santa Clara win over Washington State and against No. 17 Cal she added two more goals to help the Broncos to a 3-0 win.
As a freshman Johnston was named the 2010 WCC Freshman of the Year. She started 16 of 20 games played, scored two goals, and led the team with five assists for nine points. The Mesa, Ariz. native made an immediate impact for the Broncos, picking up her first collegiate point by assisting on Maxine Goynes' game-winning goal in a 1-0 win in Santa Clara's season opener over San Diego State and following that up with another assist the Broncos' second game of the season.
