SANTA CLARA, Calif. – With its long tradition of excellence, Santa Clara women's soccer is set to welcome a new class of freshmen to the Mission campus. SantaClaraBroncos.com introduces Kennedy Dinius from Pasadena, Calif. Dinius was coached by Louis Hunt and Chris Howe at Mayfield Senior School.
"I chose Santa Clara because of the great academics, competitive athletics, and its strong sense of community," said Dinius. "I felt extremely comfortable when I first visited the campus and knew it was the right place for me. The student body was very welcoming and immediately made me feel a part of the Bronco family. I can't wait to start my career at Santa Clara and I am thankful for the opportunity to be a part of such a great soccer program."
As a senior in high school Dinius scored two goals and had six assists in half a season due to injury. She was named First-Team All-League and All-Area San Gabriel for her performance. Her team advanced to the second round of the CIF.
As a junior she was also named All-League while ranking 12th in the SoCal section in assists. Her team advanced to the first round of the CIF her junior year.
As a sophomore and a freshman Dinius was named Second-Team All-League and was Athlete of the Year in 2010. In 2010 her team made it to the first round of the CIF.
During her club soccer, Dinius' team was a semi-finalist for the National Cup in 2013 and was the 2012 League Cup Champions.
Dinius also ran cross-country in high school and was named All-League in 2010 and 2011. She holds the school record for the 4x400, which she set in 2010.
Off the field Dinius was a member of the National Charity League, a member of the Advising Council at Mayfield Senior School and was a coach for the Special Olympics LAFC program.
Her hobbies include sports, spending time with friends and family, hiking, and running.
